The first two days.

School has started!!!
It's freaking surreal. It's almost like the holidays never ended. I'm still lolling about in bed and socializing through my laptop -maaaaaaan... that sounds pretty geeky-
Usually, I start the sem with great enthusiasm. "A New Year, A New Beginning!"
Wonder what happened this time...

Monday began with HR (along the lines of "Understanding Human Relations in the New Economy?"), a business module that is compulsory for engineering students. The lecturer seems to be lovely. She was really bright and cheery and I so wanted to respond in kind. Even my classmates seemed pretty nice, I was sitting next to a couple of Material Engin people, but I was attacked by a sudden, inexplicable, bout of shyness. I felt like curling into my seminar room seat and hiding behind the fold-down table. I almost craved the annonymity of a huge lecture theatre... Oh well, first day jitters?

Tuesday. Noon. Philosophy and Film. Tagore was supposed to lecture but was unwell. We got Holbo -he is hilarious, more so in this module than in Reason & Persuasion- who started lecture 1 with lecture 7. During the break, he played us excerpts from the incredibly zany, silent film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari. Not too sure what to make of it. Catch it if you're incredibly free and want to watch something weird and comical in equal measures. By the way, none of us saw the "tadpole" referred to by Virginia Woolf (yes, the Virginia Woolf) in her critique of film over literature.
Anyhoo, I haven't watched most of the movies on the prescribed list. Looks like that's going to eat more school hours than expected. That said, I look forward to watching many whacky and deep movies this sem.

At 4pm I would be having my first engin lecture of the week, ME4253.
At 3.15 I headed to the Computer Centre, faced the usual hullaballoo at the printers (they seem to change the print system at the start of each sem, so the racket and confusion is... ya...).
3.45, I got my printouts. On track and starting to feel more equilibriated. Entered LT3. Familiar space. You feel cocooned by the green walls, green carpets and green chairs. We were in a large green womb. Anyone else felt that way?
Lectures began. The cogs were were turning and the gears were engaged. By the end of the class, I'd found peace. At least a wee bit of it. It was starting to feel like school had really begun. Vestiges of excitement were starting to surface. Hey, we need to begin somewhere.
Yay! Hope the sem will be fun!

Life seems awesome when...

you're walking down a road, loudly singing "The Happy Wanderer", swinging a pink plastic bag of bananas, smelling the scent of freshly cut curb-side grass, with a book-filled tote and the promise of extra curly water slides and chocolate mousse later.

Greetings, animals!

I am Hello Kitty,
You are Good Bye Dog,
I am very pretty,
You are ugly, like frog...

How do you get these things out of your head?
the last line -heck, the whole thing- could be a Daiso card.
