The joy of cooking

I cook to relax. It may sound strange to people who have actually seen me at work in the kitchen. My maid, sister and boyfriend can attest to the fact that with my neuroses on measuring, arranging and clearing combined with a contradictory klutziness particularly near hot stoves/the oven, tensions mount high. However, it's the self-same compulsions that calm me. Nothing like perfectly prepared ingredients waiting to be combined in the correct manner at the right moment to make a beautiful dish.
